A New High Voltage Power Board For the Heathkit SB-200

This is Part 1 of a 2 part series showing the construction and installation of the Harbach PM-200 Replacement Power Supply in the Heathkit SB-200.

Background

Recently I purchased a used Heathkit SB-200 amplifier from the DELARA radio club and after letting is sit on a shelf for a few months, I fired it up and immediately noticed problems. With a fair amount of troubleshooting, I discovered the HV power supply board was definitely not up to snuff.

A Dirty TX Relay on a Clean Heathkit SB-200

8/14/2022 POTA – Delaware State Park

Other than getting a bit of rain which caused us to pack up much earlier than expected, it was an outstanding and fun day today.

We operated two stations for 3 hours and 15 minutes and made 201 contacts using the K8ES club callsign.

An Amazing POTA with Friends

If you are familiar with Parks On the Air , and never performed a park activation, you are missing out. This weekend, I was involved with activating Alum Creek State Park (K-1933) along with KE8QPI, N8QL, and W8MDC. This was the first time any of us had ever performed an activation, so we considered this a “Dry-Run” to learn the ropes, hang out, and make some contacts.

Adopting a HG-52SS Crank Up Tower

I had the pleasure of working with a great group of people today. Our task was to move a HyGain HG-52SS tower from the home of NZ8C and transport it 26 miles to it’s new home. In the coming months, it will be overhauled, a new base poured, and re-erected at the QTH. The skies were clear and beautiful, a nice reprieve from the cold Ohio winter.
